To inspire, empower, and enable wildlife professionals to sustain wildlife populations and habitats through science-based management and conservation.

Our Goals

  • Develop and maintain professional standards for wildlife research and management
  • Enhance knowledge and technical capabilities of wildlife managers.
  • Advance professional stewardship of wildlife resources and their habitats.
  • Advocate the use of sound biological information for wildlife policy decisions.
  • Increase public awareness and appreciation of the wildlife profession

  2. Wildlife Society Annual Conference Travel Grants
    The grant covers student registration, travel and lodge. These annual meetings are a fantastic opportunity to attend, with many networking and educational opportunities. The 2026 meeting will be Feb 2-6, 2026, Hyatt Regency – Monterey, CA.
  3.  Discounted Workshop Rates
    Past workshops have included: Small Mammal Trapping, California Endangered Species Act, Blunt-Nosed Leopard Lizard, Urban San Joaquin kit fox, Rattlesnake Handling, Mammal Track and Sign Workshop.

Logo for the San Joaquin Valley Chapter of The Wildlife Society. The logo has species found in the Central Valley including a great egret, San Joaquin kit fox, burrowing owl, and a frog. The logo is blue for rivers and green for the valley.

About Our Logo

In 2009, we held an open contest for a logo that would represent the diversity of our Chapter area. Robin Phanco, a graphic artist from the Fresno area, had the winning design.

Robin graduated in 1993 from California State University, Fresno with a BA in Graphic Design. In the last 17 years, she has had the opportunity to work in Computer Game Design, Trade Show/Exhibit Design, and Restaurant & Retail Design. She has been the Creative Director for three startup companies and is currently the Creative Director for Northside Christian Church in Clovis, California.
